President Donald Trump is taking issue with some claims made in an upcoming book that slams his views on immigration policy and more specifically — the border wall. The book written by two New York Times reporters, Julie Hirschfeld Davis and Michael D. Shear, is titled: “Border Wars: Donald Trump’s Assault on Immigration” and the New York Times reported on many of the same topics included in the book. In one passage, the writers suggest that President Donald Trump was in favor of alligator and/or snake-filled moats surrounding the border wall and skin-piercing spikes at the top of the fence. It has been reported that the border wall would be electrified and even migrants would be shot in the leg if they tried to cross. President Trump spoke out about the report on Wednesday and denied the claims.

“Privately, the President had often talked about fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate. He wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh. After publicly suggesting that soldiers shoot migrants if they threw rocks, the president backed off when his staff told him that was illegal. But later in a meeting, aides recalled, he suggested they shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down. That’s not allowed either, they told him.”
President Trump addressed the report during a press conference he held with the President of Finland Wednesday. He mistakenly referred to the New York Times and their reporters as being from the Washington Post. President Trump referred to the remarks as “corrupt news.”
